One of the invasive plants we manage on the heathlands is the humble Christmas tree. Many of our heathlands were used to plant Fir, Pine and Spruce plantation after the First World War. But now as conservationists convert these sites back to their previous heathland states, saplings growing from the seed bank in the soil constantly need to be managed to stop them from taking over.
